Industrial Radio PRO-4 Midi Bass
I bought this instrument from Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson) back in 2012. The history of the instrument is that Steve Chick (founder/owner/genius at Industrial Radio who makes these amazing basses) made this bass for Squarepusher, with some custom pickups compared to the standard model (which sound amazing!).
I bought the bass from Tom in 2012, as was embarking on a new live project with a live show, and needed a way of triggering midi and playing bass at the same time. This is obviously the best way to do that! After many rehearsals but only a handful of shows, the project was discontinued and so the bass has been sitting in my studio not doing a lot recently, hence the sale. It had been my go to studio instrument at home for a good while, as it plays so nicely as a normal bass, and has an audio output if you want to use it as a normal bass. It has a satin neck and a really smooth, buttery feel to it.
It comes with:
2 x Radiopick wristband, plus 1 spare Radiopick brain part part: (Also included is a bunch of radio picks of the latest plus an older design - these are replaceable as eventually wear out)
2 x cables which go between the bass and interface (1 spare)
2 x power supplies (these are a slightly weird voltage so I carried a spare)
2 x spare batteries for the Radio Picks (1 spare)
Also included are a cleaning kit with pads and a fret cover, a few allen keys, and a CNB hard shell case also come with it
Condition
The bass has the same spec as one you would buy from Industrial Radio today but with better pickups.
There are a few small dings on the bass, as shown in the photos. 1 is on the body, a very small one on the neck (you can't feel this when playing), and a few other small scratches. It's not bad in condition at all, it's just been used and played over the years - as it should be!! The neck is straight and true and this is a custom made instrument from a fantastic luthier, and a brilliant electric bass without all the midi extras.
I would hate for someone to view the bass and have any surprises, and want to be as honest and open as I can be about this instrument. It is a hugely powerful beast with an interesting past, and I would love to keep hold of it but can't justify it with no use! It comes with enough spares for a professional player to be able to take it on the road, and should prove a reliable instrument for many years to come.
You are looking at £3k for a new one (without extras), plus £300 shipping and some pretty steep import duties to the UK. There is also a 6 month lead time on them, not including the shipping. I'm basically selling for a similar price as a new one, based on the extras and upgrades (and the notable owner before me).
You are very welcome to come and view it at my home, and I can take you through the system and how it all works (which is pretty simple, even for a bass player!). I live in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Payment on collection is preferred. I'm not keen on posting it but if you want to organise that then lets talk...
