• This upgrade, Version 1.6, is the latest operating system firmware issued by Akai for the X7000.
• Included is one brand new EPROM upgrade chip, clearly labeled to indicate the correct IC socket for installation.

Please note: This listing is for the EPROM upgrade chip only. The Akai X7000 itself is not included.

Crucial Compatibility Note: OS v1.6 vs. OS 2.1

• If your Akai X7000 has the SXM-007X RAM backup board installed, there is an OS 2.1 available which adds new functions for this memory board. This board allows your unit to retain samples in memory after power off.
• WARNING: Do NOT purchase OS 1.6 if you have the SXM-007X card, as OS 1.6 will NOT make use of it. You should seek OS 2.1 instead.

Installation Guidance

• For correct installation, please observe the marked orientation notch on the EPROM.
• WARNING: EPROMs inserted backwards will be destroyed. Incorrect insertion of ICs is also highly likely to cause permanent damage to your board.
