Hello! Welcome to the sale of my super-rare Dynacord SRS 56 analogue delay/reverb.
This unit is like their famed VRS 23 model but MORE. It is a late 70s/early 80s analogue delay and reverb BUT unlike most combo units from around the same era, rather than being a spring reverb, the reverb uses the bucket brigade technology! I think this unit has 10 of the BBD chips in it to achieve this. I don't think there were any other units that did BB reverb, other than maybe a couple of guitar pedals. It also has modulation, so you can get some tasty chorused, modulated delays.
As well as the standard delay and 2x reverb section it has a dual section that has two delay lines, each with their own controls. You can either run the 2 lines parallel or in series and in stereo if you use the left/right in/outs (the signals are merged when used in mono). The two delays/reverbs can be mucked about even more using the X-REGEN knob that seems to give a more intense feedback, I'm assuming by feeding the delays of one line into the other or whatever. This unit also SELF-OSCILLATES, so you can get those crazy sounds that analogue delays are loved for.
As you can see from the photos, the unit is in fantastic cosmetic condition for it's age. The face-plate looks almost new! There are the usual few scratches on top, but that's about it.
Functionally, as far as I can tell, it is also exactly as it should be. When using the stereo inputs/outputs, the signal gets a little noisey if you push the Return knobs too far, but this is to be expected with a unit of this age and, with a re-cap, I'm sure it would be ultra-quiet. However, in it's current state it is more than perfectly usable and I only mention it out of full disclosure. Vinatge equipment = a little bit of noise, right?
I have just this hour recorded a video to show it working. Please excuse the phone-recorded sound quality - it doesn't quite capture the beauty of the delays and reverbs achievable!
These units are quite rare and excellent option if you want quality analogue BBD delay and reverb in your studio or guitar rig. I'm only selling as I am down-sizing my set-up somewhat and, being on an all analogue kick at the moment, I decided that I want to go even further back into the technological past and use only tape delay. I am also building a DIY plate reverb!!!
