BYOC Yellow Overdrive, professionally built, excellent condition, with red LED, yellow Boss style knobs, and the 3403AD 14-pin quad op amp. The BYOC Yellow Overdrive pedal is a true bypass version of the very first Boss OD-1 released in 1977 ('A' version, silver screw). This was the first pedal of the historic and groundbreaking Boss compact pedal series, to which anyone who loves pedals today owes a debt of gratitude.

I am a huge fan of the OD-1 and I wanted to closely compare the BYOC version to my upgraded OD-1 ('E' version).  They sound almost identical at every setting, and so I don't need to keep both.

The OD-1 was unusual in 1977 for its asymmetrical clipping circuit.  The sound doesn't go extreme with distortion, but you can get a good amount of drive out of it at the maximum setting.  It sounds good with a clean amp, or driving a tube amp, and with other drive pedals.  For me, the most interesting sounds are in the lower half of the drive range.  Just a great sounding pedal with a lot of possibilities - in a sea of drive pedals, I always come back to this one.
