HOFNER JAZZICA Natural Finish: Single Venetian cutaway with carved, solid German Spruce top and 5-ply binding.
Highly figured laminated African Maple (aka Anigree) back and sides.
Neck is 1-3/4" at the nut, 25-1/2" scale. Body is 16" across lower bout.
Specially designed 'Hofner Contour' body tapers from 4" at the tailpiece to 2-1/2" at the neck and brings the neck closer to the player.
You will love playing the Jazzica in either a sitting or standing position.
Asymmetric neck profile is thicker at the bass side, thinner at treble side.
Ebony fingerboard on a 24-fret Hard Rock Maple set neck that joins body at the 16th fret.
Bound neck, top & 'cat's eye' f-holes.
Ebony pickguard & hand-fitted bridge, smooth and precise Schaller M6 machine heads with ebony buttons.
Single neck-mounted floating Hofner Diamond pickup (by Kent Armstong) w/body-mounted volume and tone controls.
Deluxe 5-ply hard-shell case with plush black lining.
One of the great designs which resulted from the employment of Klaus Schöller in the Hofner factory from 1986 onwards. (Herr Schöller is now Chief Executive of the Hofner Company.)
This guitar was a revolution in archtop design when it first appeared in 1989.
A highly tapered body width provided ease of playing the guitar, the joining of the neck to the body at the 16th fret aided access to the fingerboard, and the "slash" type soundholes and stunning finishes on offer certainly caught the eye!
The final and longest lasting version, called the Jazzica Custom model, was a development of the Jazzica Special, with rear body binding, floating Hofner pickup, ornate headstock design, and blonde, occasionally brown sunburst, and violin varnish finishes on offer.
The Jazzica disappeared from the Hofner Catalogue at the end of 2008.
