This Vintage Roger Junior carved top acoustic is cheap for a very good reason.
It is a genuine Roger Mittenwald Junior from around 1958. It has the correct label, the original Roger stamped machine tuners, the Standard Roger trapeze and the Type 5 unusual (hollow) bridge with one extension. The Black logo on the headstock and the items mentioned already, suggest a date of 1958.
The reason for the very low price is that the neck glue joint has come unstuck. There is very minor damage to the binding on one side of the joint.
I could keep it and spend a small amount with my luthier, or I can sell it very cheaply for someone else to enjoy. I've decided on the latter as I just want to sell most of my guitars.
Here's what's good:
The body is actually very nice. There are no hideous splits or deep knocks. It has plenty of marks and some minor knocks to some edges (as in the images), but it's basically a good body.
It has all of the original items already mentioned. The bridge is a rare item. So, when restored, you will have a lovely Roger Junior with original parts.
The neck is actually quite good. There are some marks on the back from wear around the grip near the upper frets. The frets have some minor wear. The 7 pearloid inlays are still there.
The 7 piece headstock has a few marks but it has retained the Roger logo and the original Roger tuners.
Here's what isn't so good:
The neck is as good as detached. It has popped out of the joint. A relatively simple job for a skilled luthier. Half the work is done as the most difficult part is getting the glue joint unstuck!
There are a few screws missing on the tuners. Someone has put some sort of electrical socket in the side at the base. The bottom button is missing. It has marks from use and some minor lacquer checking. The machine tuner buttons are not good and will need to be replaced. Some of the binding is missing near the neck joint as you can see in the images.
Bottom line, please study the images very carefully. I am happy to answer questions and provide more images but I'm not interested in haggling or swaps thanks.
It's very cheap. Refurbished, they sell for between £850 and around £1500.
Once more, please study the images before you buy. I won't accept a return.
There's no case with it, but I will ship it in a good carton with loads of bubble wrap and packaging.
The shipping prices shown for outside Europe are a guide. Please ask for a price for shipping before you buy. As I've sent quite a few of my collection to the USA, I can be sure that it will cost £100 for USA. Australia, NZ and Far East are more.
