Up for sale is my 1993 Santa Cruz Vintage Artist (D-18 inspired sitka/mahogany dread). The guitar sounds great, plays great, and looks great though is worn in as one would expect from a guitar that's been played extensively during its long life. There is a fair amount of lacquer checking on the top of the guitar, wear around the sound hole, wear on the back of the neck behind the 2nd fret which I assume is from a capo and other wear as depicted in the photos. The guitar is bellied a bit (bridge area of body is lifted and back of sound hole area sunk a bit) but several luthiers have looked at it and said it is perfectly acceptable in a 1993 guitar with the light build that Santa Cruz is known for, and there is plenty of saddle left so the action can be lowered. There is one recent weather crack that runs from the back of the bridge pin of the high "E" string. The wood crack itself was between 3 and 4 inches long and the rest of the mark is just a lacquer crack. The actual wood crack has closed up so well you'd almost have to know it was there to think it was not just the lacquer. It happened in January and was professionally repaired by Spruce Tree Music in Madison, WI, who said it was a very nice guitar. I bought this guitar in April 2015 over the internet from a renowned dealer in Nashville. Before the crack and some of the newer lacquer checking, they actually graded it Excellent on their own scale despite the rest of the wear described and depicted in the photos. I'm selling the guitar because I've fallen into camp rosewood and just got a rosewood Huss & Dalton. All in all, this is an opportunity to own one of the great guitars out there, already broken in and with a personality all its own, at a price unheard of for this caliber of instrument. New retail on the model is 5k.
Edit: I thought I'd add some more detailed info that I provided as a response to an inquiry.
Nut Width is 1 11/16"
7/64" at low E 12th fret (fret to bottom of string)
5/64" at high E 12th fret (fret to bottom of string)
Saddle Height: 11/64" at low E; 5/64" at high E.
More about the neck profile:
I took my caliper and clamped it on the neck capo style until the strings were touching the frets at the 3rd and 9th frets. It's 0.93 inches deep at the 3rd and 0.99 inches at the 9th. Also, the neck widens considerably to 2.17 inches at the 12th fret.
Another edit: Added 2 pictures showing the crack in more detail. The black line in the one photo runs under it (it is not the crack!) and the red rectangle shows, to the best of my memory, where there was a visible opening in the wood.
