Here is a pair of wonderful Boston Acoustics T930 Series II floorstanding tower speakers, built circa 1992.
This was a great time period at Boston Acoustics, and the T930 is one of the best designs they produced. This is the revised second edition of the T930 which has a different crossover and different positioning of the midrange and tweeter drivers. The Series II version also has the speaker terminals on the back of the cabinet rather than hidden in the base. The big 10 inch woofer moves more air than the smaller drivers used in other Boston Towers and gives the T930 solid tight bass response matched with accurate and warm mids from the 6.5 inch driver positioned above. The ferrofluid-filled copolymer tweeter was another Boston classic giving clear sparkling highs. These speakers match well with any power source from 15 to 150 watts.
People have debated for almost 30 years whether the Series II or Series I speakers sound better. I have owned both and I think the difference is quite subtle. For a while I was driving a pair of each version together and that was grand.
Practically every T930 you will find will have been well used and showing its age with peeling veneer and deterioration of the surrounds on the big woofer. These speakers could use a little touch up here and there, but they are in better than average cosmetic condition for the model, and they are a steal at this price.
They did need to have their surrounds replaced and so we had the job professionally done at the end of 2018 by Seattle's great Paul Johnston of The Loudspeaker Store. They will be good to go for another 30 years. They sound tremendous both as fronts in home theater and on their own for two channel music reproduction. All genres of music sound great with them and they really excel with rock music. Series II T930's are hard to find, so here's a chance to bring some home that are ready to rock.
The Boston Acoustics T930 speakers are offered for pickup only in the city of Kent, Washington, near Seattle. We will not ship them.
