1980s Burny by Fernandez Super Grade Les Paul Standard Vintage Guitar Flame Top Japan

Up for sale, a 1980's Burny Super Grade Flame Top in exceptional, 100% original condition and in good working order. This expertly crafted Japanese guitar was manufactured by Fernandez and clearly takes its cues from its Gibson cousin (no relation). The Burny Super Grade line has been revered for producing some of the finest LP style instruments ever crafted, with close adherence to vintage specs. The guitar retains the original VH-1 PAF replica humbuckers which have incredible harmonic content, great punch, and an overall full and rich tonal character. There's plenty of bite and chime in the top end too! The weight of this guitar is nice and light for a non-weight relieved instrument at only 9lbs, and the instrument balances well on a strap. This guitar is simply one of the most elegant and easy to play Les Pauls we've ever had in the shop here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, with low and comfortable action, near endlesssustain, and solid intonation.
Like any good Burst, this solid maple bookmatched top has incredibly tight and vibrant tiger stripe flame figuring, with a beautifully executed cherry sunburst finish. This is a solid, carved top, and quite a generous piece of maple, the thickness of which can be seen in the pickup cavities. The three-piece mahogany back and one-piece mahogany neck top things off, and even the smallest details are adhered to, such as a simulated holly veneer on the headstock face and binding in the cutaway that reveals the edge of the maple top.

The neck has a medium C "60s" profile with original vintage style fretwear that only shows the lightest wear down near the nut, and virtually no wear up the neck. The neck sports white binding, pearloid trapezoid inlays, and a hand carved bone nut that's a full 1 11/16" in width, leaving plenty of room for accurate lead work and effortless chording. The headstock has the original "Fernandez Deluxe" tuning machines with lightly greened tulip buttons. The logo has been cleanly oversprayed with black lacquer, and the faint outline of the Burny letters can be seen in ideal light. A waterslide "Les Paul" decal has been added between the tuners as well, and certainly looks right at home on this traditional, open book headstock.

On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with the usual individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup coupled with a three-way pickup selector.  The original nickel hardware shows light patina appropriate for a vintage instrument, and the cream body binding and plastic pickup rings and pickguard are uniformly aged and in fantastic shape. The back of the instrument shows light buckle rash, and the body shows a few small nicks and finish scratches, but nothing untoward for an instrument pushing 40 years old! The guitar is structurally sound, and the thin gloss finish allows the guitar to resonate at its best.

This is an excellent Fernandez made Burny Super Grade guitar that's very faithful to the original LP design and complete with the coveted VH-1 "PAF" humbuckers!

The original hardshell case is included. This Lifton-style case has a brown mottled exterior, pink interior, leather handle, and original latches. It's a very well made case and a fitting companion for this classic Burny model.
