Before considering this instrument, I urge to check out my seller feedback--not only 100% positive, but a number note both my integrity and desire to represent each item objectively.
IMMACULATE/EXQUISITE: 2009 Peerless Monarch 17" guitar with original leather hardshell case. $999 for local pickup--yes! That's the best price you'll ever see on one of these BY A MILE--these sell new for $1500 and this one sounds way better than a new one.
NO ISSUES and no way I'd sell this one if I weren't out of work--perfect everything: lush deluxe details (Imperial tuners alone sell for over $100); very near pristine condition, all solid wood, hand-carved spruce top, great neck, spot-on intonation. If you're going for the "typical" flatwound plugged-in mellow Jazz sound, you'd literally have to pay thousands more to find a guitar that would sound substantially better plugged in.
And if you want to go with livelier round-wounds--wow sounder acoustically. (Incredibly string sensitive, this is basically two very different guitars.) Currently strung with expensive Snake Oil light top/heavy bottom pure nickels (10 - 52), I will also include medium heavy (52 low E) Thomastik flat wounds (the 4 low, wound strings; these sell for $26 new and last forever).
A couple notes about this sort of guitar...First, whether you go for this one or not, take my advice: If you can't afford a solid wood archtop, still get one with a spruce top. But the few hundreds more you might have to pay for a hand-carved solid topper is a great investment--the difference between The Real Thing and the thing you'll eventually sell for a loss when you trade up for The Real Thing. (Obviously, if you can afford an all-solid wood guitar, all the better. But there are a few nice ones with laminated bodies--which, however, sell for more new than I'm asking for this one.)
And Peerless is a killer company. I recently tried out a new Eastman roughly in the same price range as this one (and similar features--all solid wood, spruce top, etc): total dud. Certainly, the age on this one helps, but I'm positive this one sounded great (if not as great) new.
Despite size, very comfortable weight and configuration--feels great on the couch.
Leather case is a great addition--considerable signs of wear (enough so that you can tell from the pitting that it's leather), but in perfect working order.
Also note: If you go with flatwounds, you can set the action so low that the strings are almost sitting on the frets without any buzzing. Not recommended for the best acoustic sound--but good to have as an option. Neck is substantial--not old school thick, but definitely not the thinned-out sculpt that some modern guitars have. Still, as fast a neck as you'll ever play and I'm certain that its contour has to do with why the sound is so great: warm, woody, but bright (with roundwounds), immensely soulful.
(Note: Pictures may have glare that suggest a flaw--it's the flash, not the guitar; this one is in very near mint condition.)
Also selling Vox AC4C1-BL - 4W 1x10" Guitar Combo Amp in IMMACULATE condition; inquire.
Also: If you make an offer, please include where you live. Insured shipping on this is going to be way more than the $45 I'm charging for it, so it would be good to know just how much more I'm going to have to shell out for that.
