This complete Kluson® set of 3 per side tuning machines has pearloid keystone buttons and a high quality finish with an improved 15:1 gear ratio for more stable and accurate tuning. The housing and button type are period correct for a variety of production dates. This set comes complete with both bass and treble side tuning machines, 8.8mm O.D. vintage bushings with 1/4 inch I.D. and mounting screws needed for installation.

Reissues of the original stamped steel tuning machines that the original Kluson Company offered utilizing the same mounting specs to offer a non-modification required retrofit/replacement. The gear ratio was improved from the original 12:1 ratio to 15:1 to offer more tuning stability.

There are some minor construction improvements over the original production from the 50's and 60's including: a slightly heavier button shaft to avoid the occasional impact bending the button shaft easily, nylon washers used internally to maintain appropriate tension without metal to metal contact which results in particles in lubricant within the housing and a taller internal ring gear for better gear mesh and contact and finally a tension washer under the string post to reduce tolerances and keep tension on the post itself. This helps reduce backlash as compared to the original production as well as adds overall life of the mechanism.
