Up for sale, a 1978 Giannini AWN-61 vintage classical guitar in excellent condition. This guitar features a spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, delivering a sound that is smooth and warm. While not a very bright instrument, the tone is very sweet. The Giannini brand can trace its roots all the way back to the year 1900, and this is one of Giannini's original models which was made in Brazil, not to be confused with later iterations made elsewhere. Professionally setup and strung with normal tension strings, this Giannini is a comfortable, easy playing classical guitar.
The mahogany neck has a distinct D shape that is particularly flat central to the profile, which accentuates the prominent and almost squared off feel of the shoulders. The frets show virtually no wear on the thick slab rosewood fretboard, and the neck features 12 frets clear of the body with a 24" scale length and 1 7/8" nut width. The headstock features a unique sculpted face with a small "G" at its zenith, and the original open gear tuners work as intended.
Visible through the soundhole, the original label is intact and clean with a 1978 date stamp. The carved rosewood bridge sits flush with the top and all braces are in good shape. The saddle has ample height, and the string spacing at the bridge is 2 3/8". The top and back of the body feature multi-ply binding with an outer ply of rosewood, and the ornate rosette has flecks of red and gold. This is a crack-free instrument, with a few light scuffs in the pick path and minor nicks on the guitar as a whole, as well as one decent mark into the rosewood on the bass side upper bout. The neck profile exhibits no wear.
A vintage chipboard case is included.
