This Santa Cruz Vintage Artist has a very large, nicely balanced sound. The clarity of the master grade mahogany back and sides instantly remind you of the famous D-18 sound we've all fallen in love with, all while adding a little something extra. The low end is very lush and powerful... much more present than many mahogany backed guitars.
This particular set of mahogany is a beautiful and rich brown, almost red color with complimentary golden brown streaks. The exceptional Sitka Spruce top, can handle some pretty heavy flatpicking while maintaining impressive headroom, sharing some characteristics of an Adirondack top without requiring quite as heavy pick attack.
This guitar has custom Adirondack Bracing with Hot Hide Glue. The Benefits of the Adirondack Bracing can't be ignored, adding not only responsiveness, but a new level of detail and clarity. The Adirondack Bracing helps to stiffen the top, making it that much more powerful with more headroom and overall volume as well as providing a very focused tone that is only complimented by the Dreadnought body size.
Hide glue, an additional custom appointment, has been phased out by most luthiers due to its labor intensive application & difficulty in building a spotless, clean body interior. Hot hide glue sets up like glass, offering a more immediate and efficient transfer of energy throughout the top, making the overall guitar more responsive with a clarity of tone that is unmatched.
