About This Listing

For your consideration is a bit of rare Zildjian family history in the form of a 21" Avedis Zildjian heavy ride cymbal made in Canada. For those that may not know the long and storied history of this 400+ year old company, in 1968 Avedis Zildjian, III, then President & CEO, split the company's operations between Quincy, MA and Meductic, New Brunswick, Canada. From 1968-1981, many A Series cymbals were made in both factories.

In 1977, Avedis, III named his son Armand, as the new President and in 1981, son Robert split from the family and assumed control of the New Brunswick, Canada operation and shortly thereafter began manufacturing SABIAN Cymbals; thus ending Zildjian's Canadian production and the rest is history as they say.

This cymbal is an incredible instrument with dark tone and great stick feel. If you're looking for a cymbal that has a lot of stick definition and minimal wash, this is your baby. It sits in the mix very tastily. Please note the very small keyhole notch at the bell, however it has "0" impact on its playability. There are no cracks, chips or other imperfections of any kind. The bronze color has nicely aged over time and I will miss this one very much, but my new projects require a light-medium ride, so this one must go to a new home.
