Acoustat Spectra 22 Electrostatic Speakers - Classics

Up for sale is a really nice pair of Acoustat Spectra 22 electrostatic speakers. The Spectra series of electrostatic panel speakers are real classics and were the last series that Acoustat produced. Unlike other vintage electrostatic speakers (and even some modern ones), the Spectras were designed with a variable geometry electrostat charging interface that provides for both greater efficiency and low end response. The Spectra 22s have a wide, pleasant dispersion at all frequencies that is devoid of midrange beaming and high frequency smearing common with other planar speaker systems. The uniqueness of the Spectra system is its ability to combine high dynamics and needed efficiency while creating radiation patterns broad in the listening area but minimal at side walls.

What does all of that mean? It means that these speakers will provide an intimate listening experience that embraces the listener and pulls them into the musical experience. Now these are a big speaker so you need to make sure you have the space and appropriate amplifier to enjoy them. The Spectra 22s have an impedance of 4 ohms and require at least 100 wpc to drive them.

They are so big, there is no way I can ship them. They will be available for local pickup in Florence South Carolina. These Spectra 22 are in good but not perfect condition. There are couple of dings and scrapes here and there and a couple of small holes in the socks. The Spectra 22s listed for $1,850 in 1988 and are fairly rare on the market.
