We traveled up to Oregon in late 2018 to spend a few days picking out woods and learning about Breedlove's build process. This is one of the Masterclass guitars that we designed and had them build for us. The goal here was to build a guitar that would be comfortable to play, dynamic to the touch and would suit singer/songwriters with light strumming hands really well or fingerstyle players as well. It's a guitar that is all about emphasizing the subleties of the player's touch.

So to start with we found a gorgeous piece of sinker redwood for the top. This is a wood that's known to really convey a lot of harmonic content as well as having a large dynamic range. The guitar will respond to subtleties in your touch and playing style very well. To go along with the crip and clean dynamic sound of the redwood top, we went with walnut back and sides. The walnut is going to be very balanced, similar to mahogany, but with much more character. It'll have a more textured and a more earthy tone than mahogany is known for while still being nice and balanced through the frequency range.

If you're a dynamic player or use your fingers a lot, this is going to be a fantastic guitar for you. We also equipped it with the best preamp that LR Baggs has to offer. The Anthem Tru-Mic will clearly and accurately convey the tone of this beauty to your favorite amp or PA system. The foremost concern was definitely to make an amazing sounding guitar whether you're just playing it acoustically or plugging it in. But we'd be hard pressed not to take a moment to also appreciate how beautiful this guitar is. Of course, being a Breedlove Masterclass, it's going to be a cut above the rest both in playability and aesthetics. This one definitely checks all of the boxes.

Built by their best luthiers while using their best woods and materials, this is as good as it gets from Breedlove... And my goodness is this one impressive little acoustic!
