Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured early in '63 with date codes within a few weeks span of each other, this amp has an extremely original 6G3 circuit, providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it, and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced the following year. There's an incredible range to the tone controls on this amp, and everything from rich and mellow sounds to twangy and crystalline bite is available at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It's truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect!
Aside from one new bias cap and resistor, the circuit is completely stock right down to the original filter caps. The original Schumacher transformers date to the 13th and 14th weeks of '63, and the CTS pots date to the 11th week of '63. All of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors are intact in the preamp and the circuit is positively pristine. The amp features a new matched pair of 6V6 power tubes, with a handful of vintage preamp tubes. The power cable is a modern three-prong variety.
The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a clean frame and date code from the 11th week of 1963. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is clean and intact, with an "ME" date code which translates to May of 1963. Cosmetically, this amp is very clean, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, and the faceplate is particularly well kept with original brown barrel knobs.
This Deluxe is extremely original and notably clean, boasting fresh 6V6 power tubes and a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.
