This set of awesome Texas Specials is from the very early 90's. It is one of the earliest replacement sets offered by the Fender Custom Shop as they were previously only available with an SRV model Strat. I bought the set new in 1993 and had them in a Strat Plus of mine for a year. Sold the guitar but held on to the Texas Specials and boxed them up for the next 22 years. This set is in excellect condition!
These pickups are very different than what Fender is currently offering as Texas Specials and measure:
Neck - 6.53 ohms
Middle - 6.74 ohms
Bridge - 7.83 ohms
They are significantly more over wound (especially the bridge) than today's Texas Special sets. Current sets of Texas Specials measure around 6.2, 6.5, and between 6.5 -7.1 for the bridge.
This set really can push a good tube amp into clip and are very touch responsive. Lay off the attack and they clean up nicely, but dig in and you slam the front end of the amp into a sweet blues overdrive.
