You are looking at a great working 1960's model Monarch Dynamic TM-16 microphone. This model was produced by Calrad, Midland, AMD and a few other Japanese manufacturers at the time. It comes with the short cable shown.
This microphone closely resembles the famous Astatic 77 both in size and styling. The Lafayette mics never measured up near the same sound quality as the American counterparts but that being said they have a beautiful design with high quality finish. It should be stated that this mic has been tested and cleaned. This microphone does have the original element that is set at high impedance. It has a smooth strong tone and these are often great harp mics though they were intended for general broadcasting. The ON / OFF switch slides smoothly without issue and as seen in the pictures provided the satin chrome finish is overall very good with typical lite scratches and scuffs. No dents, pitting or engravings however. The black screens are free of any rips or holes and the joint mechanism works great.
Easily a 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
This microphone has a classic Italian deco design that was very popular during the 1950's and 60's before the look faded out. If you are looking for something very unique in which to display...look no farther. This Japanese microphone looks sweet and sure to draw attention anywhere it sits in the home, office studio or "Man Cave".
This microphone takes a common American style Amphenol microphone cable which is included. It's the original cable but it was shortened and a quality Switchcraft female XLR end connector was installed. This is far more practical as you no longer have to unscrew the cable every time and you simply attach any XLR cable of choice to operate. Easy on...easy off.
This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand.
