Fender Blues Junior - 20 watts BillM Mods

This amp is in great working order. It was heavily modded by the previous owner. If you were thinking of getting a new blues junior, this would be a far better option. Check out the BillM Audio website if you want to read up on these mods.

This is running on JJ 6v6 power tubes (instead of el84), with an upgraded TP24 power transformer, and an upgraded TO20 output transformer. This runs at 20 watts instead of the stock 15 watts. It has the sparkle mod "S" and the presence mod "P" for more tonal options and to emulate earlier versions of the blues junior. The "octal conversion" + bias board made it so it can now run on 6v6, 5881, or 6L6 power tubes. You can get 30 watts out of it on 6L6's, but it would need a bigger output transformer (TO26) to run safely so that it does not overheat. It is currently setup on 6v6's which is the highest BillM recommends on the TO20.

From the website: "With EL84s or 6V6s and either the TO20 or TO22 output transformer, you’ll hear additional clean headroom and the additional punch you get from having all the current on tap that the tubes can use. There is no sag."

There was a basic mod to get rid of the boxy sound of stock blues juniors, and cathode follower mod to utilize the extra 1/2 of unused portion of v2 tube. v1 and v3 are Sovtek 12ax7's and v2 is a JJ ECC832/12DW7 due to the cathode follower. This amp is loud, has excellent cleans and really great preamp breakup.

I purchased a brown cover for it, although it was a bit dusty on the top before I got it. It has no rips or tears in the tolex. The tubes have low hours on them. Previous owner put $400 into it in mods. This is a great sounding amp! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
