Up for sale, a 1981 Tokai Silver Star vintage electric guitar, 100% original and in good working order. One of the more popular "lawsuit" vintage guitar brands, Tokai was known for making faithful iterations of favorite USA models, and this Silver Star Strat is no exception! With gray bobbin pickups and a clear, cutting acoustic voice, this guitar delivers the goods with articulate snap and chime. The guitar weighs 8lbs and has been setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and comfortable action.
The maple neck has a chunky and full C shaped profile with consistent depth as you travel up the fretboard and plenty of meat in the shoulders. The gloss maple fretboard lends the guitar a snappy attack, and the slender frets are in great shape, showing only light wear on the crowns of frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers, with notes that ring out clearly with no buzzing or dead spots. The guitar conforms to traditional Fender specs with a 25 1/2" scale length and 1 5/8" nut width for an intuitive feel. On the large, 70s-style headstock, the original tuners are intact and hold pitch well.
The electronics are all original, with a trio of gray bobbin pickups, full-size pots, and a five-way pickup selector switch. The Olympic White finish has aged to a nice shade of cream, accented by original black plastic parts and chrome hardware. Cosmetic wear includes chips and nicks around the edges of the body, with scuffing in the pick path and surface patina on the tuner buttons, bridge saddles, jack cup, and three-bolt neck plate.
