MHDT Lab Constantine NOS DAC

For your consideration is very nice digital audio converter from MHDT Labs.

After much consideration and internet research I decided that i wanted to try out one of these hand crafted components from the well respected boutique in Taiwan. This is a non-oversampling DAC, which many praise for their more analog sound and is a technology often found in much higher-end expensive models

If you browse the internet audio sites, especially those that discuss these devices, MHDT units are praised for their musicality, and I found that indeed to be a strength of this unit. Folks seem to say that they make very "analog" sounding gear, and if you're buying a Digital to Analog converter that seems to be what you should be trying to get. It took me a little while to find this one as there are not many available on the used market, which I guess says something for how much folks like them.

FWIW, I've tried out quite a few DACS and I preferred this one to highly rated, well reviewed models from Musical Fidelity, Schitt, a Jolida tube model, and others - sound quality was not quite up to the level of a Conrad Johnson model I had, but it did a much better job of locking on to signal and is much less expensive. Only selling because I'd like to try one of their other models a little higher up the line
