The Tal Farlow model, first released in 1962, is an electricarchtop guitar with a body shape that is outwardly very similar to the popularES-5 in its basic dimensions. The heavy tailpiece also hints towards the L-5family of Gibson archtops.
This unique and rare model has some distinct visual featuresas dictated by this gifted guitarist. It’s trademark faux-scroll roundedcutaway (Farlow’s own design), upside-down J-200 fingerboard inlays,double-crown headstock inlays, and Tal Farlow trapeze tailpiece with inlaidrosewood block set it apart from any other archtop Gibson had ever created.
This unusual signature model has always been a rare bird, withonly 215 examples produced between 1962-’69. Gibson reissued the Tal Farlow shortlyin 1993; this guitar is one of the reissue models from that year. Apart from asmall missing portion of the binding at the headstock and some tarnish on thepickups and tailpiece, this guitar is in great condition.
