Notes: This guitar is the first ‘71 to be made from Spanish Cedar; I like Spanish Cedar because it’s very similar to Mahogany (it’s in the Mahogany family), but it’s generally much lighter in weight and it has a bit more midrange snap and tighter bass response. It’s the first to have the alternate slash inlay pattern, and the first to have the inlays made from black Mother of Pearl. I thought it would fit the overall “dark” look of the guitar better than white Mother of Pearl. This one has a toggle switch tip that was hand made from bone. This guitar and JS1040 were wired volume/volume instead of volume/tone on a whim. Guitar was at NAMM 2016, and the construction of the guitar appears in the “Making of the ‘71” documentary. Completed: January 12, 2016
