Offering a very rare Hyak electric guitar. These were made in Bellevue, Washington for a few years in the late '70's by former Alembic employee Brian Smith. Similar to Alembic, Brian specialized in exotic wood 'hippie sandwich' style guitars with active electronics. This guitar does not include the original electronics that required a power supply and 5 pin connector. The guitar now includes Seymour Duncan P-Rails and a DiMarzio Area 58 in the middle. Two three way toggles for the P-Rails to switch sounds from traditional single coil, P-90 or humbucker sounds. Five way switch allows for a great array of tonal varieties. The five way brass plate was made by Robert Roush. 25" scale guitar. This guitar includes a Waldo low-impedance buffer - this allows a player to maintain tone with long cable runs and pedals and adds a bit of high end sparkle to the overall tone. It requires a 9v battery.
This a cherry body guitar with purpleheart top and back. This is a neck through guitar and uses a unique graphite reinforced design. It has no truss rod - and does not need one. Still straight as an arrow after 40 years. 11 laminate neck consists of purpleheart/graphite/maple/graphite/koa/purpleheart/koa/graphite/maple/graphite/purpleheart. Macassa ebony fingerboard with large abalone inlays and silver side dots. Handcut brass tailpiece. I changed the nut to bone but it will come with the original brass nut. The guitar is in good shape but has some dings mostly around the edge of the body, one on the neck around the 9th fret as well as some bigger scratches on the body and brass plate rash around the 9v compartment - difficulty to show in the pictures. There is a surface wood crack on the front of the head stock that runs from the top to the B tuner (It's been the same for the over 10 years I have owned the guitar - the headstock itself is not cracked). One screw is missing from the electronics plate. The tuners are made by Schaller. The guitar weighs 10lbs. I have not found a serial number on this guitar and it may have been an early prototype. The guitar will come with a hard shell Italia case. It sounds and plays great! I've been lucky to own this and will miss it - selling to fund a custom build I commissioned. Thanks and feel free to contact me with any questions.
