This is a very rare Axis Excalibur EP-1 high gain tube preamp. It is estimated that only about 150 were built. This preamp was designed and built by Elan Memran of Metalhead Electronics, famous for his Marshall mod used on early Fear Factory records.
The preamp has 2 channels, clean and overdrive with 5 12AX7 tubes total. Each channel has it’s own effects loop. The overdrive channel has two modes, low gain (crunch) and high gain (lead). It also has a push-pull bass boost as well as a built in noise gate. This preamp also offers the ability to select both clean and overdrive channels at the same time for a sound on sound effect.
This unit is in excellent shape with only a few very minor nicks and scratches. Everything works and it comes with the original matching footswitch. This preamp is sold as-is and does not come with a system key (lock is currently set to the “on” position).
