We have enjoyed a variety of KAPA guitars, solid body Continentals and Challengers, and the 500 model hollow body, so we were excited to come across this bass version of the Continental.

Check out the demo video to see and hear it in action. (If you are on the mobile app check out the Web version of the listing...)

KAPA was a small brand out of Maryland in the 1960s that made great guitars with pickups and hardware imported from Germany, mostly Hofner gear.

This baby plays great, has real charm and mojo, even with what appears to be a refinish job to a Lake Placid/Pelham Blue, which is brighter and slightly different than the camera's sensors seem to capture. There are some areas of wear that reveal a green color underneath.

Frets and neck in good shape. The headstock logo is a reproduction based on the original decal.  Simple volume and tone knobs to control the pickup, and the scale length is approx 32".

Swede also gave it his full treatment -- testing, tweaking, adjusting and setting up with fresh strings, so this baby blue bomber is ready to take flight, with a nice hardshell case included.

We have lots of other great guitars -- a totally mint Hagstrom Select Ultra Swede, a one-of-a-kind handcrafted Benavente and a gorgeous late 60s Vox Student Prince -- and more minty gems like this one getting ready to list. So please check out the rest of the shop and point friends and fellow musicians our way.

About Automatic Jack

As with all the axes in the Automatic Jack Shack, the Swede -- my guitar craftsman and collaborator in gear -- has given this his full treatment, checking, fixing and optimizing all the electronics, hardware and functionality from headstock on down. Of course, our vintage is old stuff, so bear in mind that many of our listings are for 30-40+ year-old instruments, with the typical kind of wear and quirks that comes with that. Vintage gear tends to be imperfect and in need of ongoing care. We are dedicated to delivering the most playable, high-quality and modestly-priced guitars and gear we can. But we are players and people. We want to offer great deals and deal with great people.
