This is it, the real deal, the crème de la crème. This is an original lacquer, 1967 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 142193. This is a true “Sanborn” series alto, and is in stellar shape. For the serious player and collector alike, it doesn't get any better than this.
This alto looks great, with excellent coverage of its original lacquer. It shows slight typical “acid bleed” and light lacquer wear on keys and touch points. The sax shows absolutely no signs of major past dent work or trauma. The bell-to-body brace, bell flare, and bottom bow are all in perfect condition, and there are zero resolders on this instrument. The original neck has never been pulled down and is also in outstanding shape.
This sax has good pads, etc....this precision instrument is "Sanborn" ready quality from top to bottom and we'll ship it in perfect playing shape.
This Mark VI is a dynamic player, as you'd expect from a horn in this serial number range. Powerful and edgy, with a strong core that punches well, but even at max volume, it doesn't lose its center or color of tone. A world class alto for the most serious of musicians.
