Gibson L-4 CES 1990 Vintage Sunburst

You’re viewing a used 1990 Gibson L-4 CES in Vintage Sunburst, featuring a hand carved solid spruce top, with mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, and original hardshell case(handle replaced with stronger unit as most of the originals broke). This guitar is in excellent condition, almost unbelievably so for being 24 years old. Those years have allowed the woods to season, bringing out the best in it sonically. The only non-stock item on the guitar is the Bartolini 1CTA pickup in the neck position which is “known for its high clarity and definition, and brings out every nuance in the inner voices of complex chords. The attack and overall quality of tone is in the region between crisp, acoustic tone and the rounded, or “diffused”, treble quality of vintage humbuckers”. A nice addition to the guitar, and it blends well with the stock bridge pickup. As expected for a 24 year old guitar, there are some signs of playing wear, including some light fret wear. However, there are many years of full-time playing left in them. There is some light worming in a small section of the back, but they don’t go through the finish. I tried to capture this in the pictures, but it’s hard to see, and only visible from the right angle. Lastly, there are some light cracks in the finish around the side rims of the lower bout. However, they are not in the wood…finish only. None of these things have any impact on the playability, sound, or structural stability of the guitar, and are not visible without close inspection.
