FOR SALE. 1953 Fender Stringmaster Quad

      This is a four neck, walnut finish Fender Stringmaster, serial No 0058. built by Freddie Tavares, one of the founders of the company. His signature and manufacturing date of July 1953 can be found under the tuning pans. The only items that are missing are the original case, and the bridge covers.   The guitar is the same model as played by Noel Boggs; one of the great players of the era.   This guitar also has an interesting history. It was brought to the UK by Hoot Rains, the steel guitar player who played with Slim Whitman, in the mid 1950’s. When Hoot returned to the USA, the guitar remained in the UK. According to the noted British Hawaiian guitar player Basil Henriques, it was owned and played by the steel guitarist working with his father’s Hawaiian troupe during the late ’50’s and 1960’s.   It was purchased by BJ Cole in 1976; who has owned and played it until the present day.
