This Fernandes Strat Style Guitar is Owned by Marty Friedman.

"For decades, people have complimented the magical clean guitar sound used for the melodies on my “Scenes” album.
Here`s the (long) story about that sound and this guitar.
I was at the legendary Sound City studio in LA starting work on my 2nd solo album, “Scenes”. It was literally the time of the LA riots which were going on just a few freeway exits away, but that didnt`t stop us from working.
One day during the sessions, in walks a girl with a guitar case. I was knee deep in tracking keyboards and I wasn't thrilled about someone just walking into the studio while we were working, but she was really cute, and just my type so before kicking her out, I decided to see why she came. She was a rep for the Fernandes guitar company, and she heard I was recording there and came to see if I`d be interested in trying one of their new guitars out.
At that point I couldn't have cared less about the guitar. I just wanted to humor her, so I just took the guitar and told her that I`d give it a try when I started tracking guitars. So I forgot about the guitar and went about my business.
Finally guitar day comes, and I`m going through my guitars getting sounds for clean melodies, and nothing is really sounding all that great. If I would have got a sound that I liked that would have been the end of it, but I didn`t so I was grasping at straws. “This is probably gonna suck,” I told the engineer, “but lets try that girl`s guitar.”
Just to see if it worked, before we were going to put it through an amp, we plugged it into a Quadraverb just to see if a sound would come out of it. I started playing it, and from the very first note, it sounded like the heavens opened up and I heard the best guitar sound I ever heard.

Clear, rich, glassy, full of pitch, and a unique character, quite rare qualities to find all in the same guitar. I loved the sound so much, I kept it plugged into that Quadraverb (through a regular preset—“Wet Rhythm Guitar”) for the entire session, and did all of the clean melodies on it. This tone is by far the most complimented and analyzed tone of my career.
I knew I had to keep this guitar and I wanted more of them. It turns out that this guitar was a prototype, and that was the only one of its kind. I told the nice folks at Fernandes about how I liked this guitar and so they built me an exact clone of the guitar.
I was excited to get this clone several months later. It was great, and copied the original`s specs in every detail, except for the color, which I requested be black. The original was kind of a seasick white/mint/greenish color. As exact as the new black guitar is, and as close to the original`s sound as it got, it sounds a bit different from the original. I guess a guitar`s delicate character can`t be copied. That said, the sound is very, very close to the first guitar. I even used it quite a bit on the subsequent album, “Introduction”. You can see it on the back cover of that album. I`m not going to part with the original guitar, but this is definitely as close as anyone will ever get to that sound and that guitar. It`s the “almost holy grail"
