About This Listing

I bought this off the bay ten years ago. It was sold to me as a Busato that had been renecked. The work has been done by the eminent Martin Trembley of Canada. However, as I have done more research, it is hard to know exactly what it is, so it's somewhat controversial in the small gypsy jazz guitar world. I still believe that it is constructed from a vintage rosewood Busato body and vintage spruce top. It has "aged" tuners, and a repro Busato brass tailpiece. Still, it is unknown exactly who "Busato" was, or how the business that operated under that name worked back in France in the '40's and '50's, so provenance is murky, at best.

The workmanship is top notch. It's one of the easiest gypsy guitars I've ever played, big frets, totally manageable neck. It's true all the way up and down the fingerboard. It's also one of the lightest guitars I've ever had my hands on, perfectly balanced. Tonally, it delivers the way it's supposed to... very loud and cutting, but it also has a somewhat "wet" sound, courtesy of the rosewood, I believe. I have included a link that has three sound clips on my channel, so check it out. This really is a superior guitar, using mostly vintage materials that was probably intended to pass as "vintage," and it's successful as such. Email me with questions... thanks for looking...
