Vox Tonebender 1966

The Vox Tone Bender is among the top fuzz boxes used during the British Invasion. The tone is bright and cuts through the mud. This pedal is the first series of Tone Bender released by Vox. There were dozens of fuzzes produced in England in the 60s and many vintage tone fanatics endeavor to collect them all. The best way to get all the varieties of fuzz box is learn to build them yourself. This kit from Guitar Gear Workshop includes everything you need to make your own 1966 Vox Tonebender. GGW Kits are the perfect first step for anyone who wants to get in to the world of DIY pedal building.

The transistors in this kit are New-Old-Stock AC125 and AC128 (germanium) transistors which have been tested for gain and leakage, paired and tested in a fuzz circuit to ensure optimal performance and low noise.

The circuit is constructed on a strip-board. Many of the original British fuzz boxes used strip board rather than a printed circuitboard. Strip board is also the choice of most DIY pedal builders. The components are laid out in a way that makes assembly quick and uncomplicated.

The Guitar Gear Workshop kits are assembled from high-quality components. All Guitar Gear Workshop kits feature true bypass wiring. Each kit includes detailed, graphical instructions for assembly, boxing and biasing.

The Kit includes -

  • Colorful powder-coated enclosure
  • High-quality stomp switch with gold plated leads
  • Tested/auditioned germanium transistors
  • Neutrik jacks
  • Alpha pots
  • Metal reinforced knobs with set-screw
  • Several pages of full-color, detailed instructions

You’ll need:

  • A soldering iron and basic soldering/wiring skill
  • Basic tools of the trade
  • Digital Multimeter
  • A steady, patient hand

The instructions will be delivered digitally
