There just must've been something in the atmosphere in 1961. The first live performance of some band called The Beatles, Roger Maris' record-breaking season, Jeff Tweedy's ES-335...surely, these things aren't just coincidentally related.
You don't even have to plug in this fine machine from Gibson's heyday to hear that it bleeds the blues. The neck is clean, thin, fast and begs to be played. Original pickups sing and offer up exemplary tones in all three positions.
The body and headstock have a few nicks and dings, but overall this guitar looks fantastic. Reproduction tuners are currently installed, but the original Klusons are included in the original Lifton case. Same deal with the bridge -- repro at bat, original ABR-1 sitting in the dugout.
Jeff Tweedy played this guitar on 2014 and 2015 tours with both Wilco and Tweedy. A certificate of authenticity signed by Mr. Tweedy will be included with the sale.
Each purchase includes a vinyl copy of Wilco’s Star Wars, a new album featuring 11 original songs. 180g vinyl available now.
