(SOLD) Parker Spanish Fly" - "Nylon" Guitar w/Custom Graphtech Electronics - ULTRA-RARE!

SOLD! (as in GONE) -- This extraordinary instrument is a Parker "Spanish Fly," or "Nylon." This guitar is setup with both a standard 1/4" jack, and 13-pin midi jack. These guitars are gorgeous, rare and this one goes well-beyond that while maintaining the aesthetics of the original design by Ken Parker.

This Fly was customized by Gary Brawer, of "Brawer Guitar Repair," in San Francisco. Gary, is the guitar tech to Joe Satriani, Metallica and Neal Schon, among others. His clientele include Carlos Santana, The Grateful Dead, Stephen Stills and...well, you get the picture. Years ago, Gary customized two of these guitars for me. I sold one to a friend, and I kept this one.

BODY & NECK
The Parker Spanish Fly is constructed using a basswood core, a spruce top, and a carbon fiber exoskeleton on the back and neck for support and rigidity. The fretboard is made from carbon fiber. People literally, gasp when they see and play this guitar. I could go on about the beauty of this instrument, but just look at the pics. Now imagine that in an instrument that weighs a mere 4 LBS!

HARDWARE
The hardware on this guitar is also custom-made. The bridge is made of ebony with a mother of pearl inlay, as are the stacked knobs on the controls. The knobs were made to the same specs as the originals, but the originals were made of plastic. The tuners were custom ordered as black, open-gear Sperzels. The tuners are the same custom tuners spec'd for this model, except in black. I don't think you'll find another set of these in black on a Spanish Fly or Nylon anywhere in the world. I just think the black tuners look better, and a lot of folks have agreed with that choice. The fretwork consists of beautifully finished stainless steel "no-tang" frets. There are also two strap locks.

ELECTRONICS
The electronics in this guitar consist of a customized Graphtech Ghost/Hexpander system, providing full midi capability. This system is switchable for optimization between Roland and Axon (outboard) sythesizers. It is an active system that requires a 9V battery (included). And from there, the sky's the limit as to what you want this guitar to sound like... An orchestra, a snare drum, shakuhachi...you name it. The six individual transducers are contained in the Ghost saddles. This guitar is also outfitted with a standard 1/4" jack for conventional amplification, thus providing the best of both worlds.

CONTROLS
The controls consist of two stacked pots in front, covering volume and tone for both midi and standard connections. I believe one of the knobs controls bass contour. In the back, on the cavity plate are two small trim pots, that control mid-range gain and sweep. Tonally, you're covered, and then some.

CONDITION
This guitar is in excellent condition with no dings and very light scratching, if any. There are tiny (thinner than a hair) finish cracks where the midi jack was installed. It amounts to nothing, really.
