ALTEC 604-8G Loud Speaker PAIR ORIGINAL CABINETS VINTAGE 604 SHANGRILA 1970’s
Heirloom c. 1978 FROM SHANGRILA RECORDING STUDIO MALIBU
Late 1970’s ALTEC 604-8G speakers / studio monitors in original ALTEC cabinets . Crossover built in.
They were the original monitors in Shangri-La studios , Malibu . They came from the Village Recorder along with the Quad Eight mixing console and other equipment that made the move to the Malibu studio in the late 1970’s . Bob Dylan and the Band , Eric Clapton era etc etc .
These are in original Altec cabinets with built crossovers . They are loud and as clear and wonderful with a great power amp such a McIntosh tube amp (or pair) OR a solid state amp such as a crown 300... a Bryson might even be better .
They are EXTREMELY FAST AND articulate , and reveal everything right and wrong with a mix !
It’s No wonder that the abbey road engineers chose this speaker to mix Beatles albums , and most of the American records from the 60’s through 80’s are mixed or referenced on a stereo pair (or single (mono!) ALTEC 604 .
These ALTECS have unfathomable Heritage and good historical mojo , and I have cared for them and used them very carefully since I inherited them 25 years ago . There is also a pair of outboard MASTERING LABS (Doug Sax) crossovers that came with the set when I received them . Those are not included in the auction , but I would consider selling if YOU the buyer are interested:)
They are set up in the control room at my Band’s recording studio in NEW ORLEANS .
Our engineer / technician will orgnanize “white glove” shipping to your address directly from our studio .
Check out these images , and feel free to ask any questions .
Thank you !
