I am putting Beloved up for sale. It is the last Soloway guitar that Jim made before retiring: Soloway Gosling Single 15, with fingerstyle spacing, serial M369, in perfect like-new condition. I am the original owner. Plays beautifully as you would expect. Asking $2500 for the Last Soloway Ever Made.
For those of you not familiar with Soloway guitars... the guitar is fully hollow except for a small block under the bridge, giving it a wonderfully resonant sound. It is also very comfortable, with an arm contour (rarely seen on a hollow body) and a belly cut - see pictures for the beautiful and comfortable contours.
Here is what Jim had to say recently about this specific guitar:
"I wish we had done more like this. That big body with the arm contour and no sound hole looks great, especially with a lot of chrome hardware. I think it would have worked great with a lot of pearl and metallic finishes too. "
The SoundCloud file embedded at the bottom of this listing is one Jim made with this guitar.
The first six pics are mine, and the last three pics are from the Soloway site listing when Jim first put it up for sale.
Note that the neck on this guitar has a wide finger-style spacing, perfect for finger style playing, yet not a hindrance to other styles. Here is the description and specs from the Soloway website when Jim first had it listed for sale:
It's a Gosling (25.5" scale length) Single 15" with the wider finger-style spacing, an Olympic White finish, and DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF's. It's also the absolute final Single 15" body that we'll be building. I know I said that once before but I managed to scrape together one last case that fits. So after this one is gone, the big 15" body is done. It's also the only Single 15 that we've ever built without a sound hole.
Under the Olympic White finish and all the chrome is a swamp ash and redwood body. The body is completely hollow except for a small block under the bridge and it's VERY lively. This guitar has a tone of high end chime and a decidedly Gretsch type vibe both visually and musically.
