I designed the Genesis G3SH guitar to replace my Gibson ES-335 when I was head of Modulus Guitars. This handmade beauty, built for me by Rich Hoag at Modulus in 1999, was the prototype for the few production versions. Bob saw the guitar on a stand in my office and borrowed it for a string of dates in 1999, as shown in the photo (photo credit Stefanie Deutsch). Genesis models featured a unique neck construction that uses a patented carbon fiber internal neck structure that absorbs all string tension, allowing the use of lightweight resonant woods normally too soft for neck building. The combination of the stiff, bright-sounding carbon fiber and soft, warm-toned neck woods give the G3SH a sound that is both warm and bright.

This special guitar differs from the production version in a number of ways:

·       Body back/sides material is highly figured Spanish Cedar

·       Top is hand-picked AAAAA Quilted Maple

·       Neck wood is highly figured Spanish Cedar

·       Grained Ivoroid binding

·       Custom-wound DiMarzio P90-size humbucking pickups

·       Thin Wine RedBurst finish

The guitar is in near-mint original condition. Unique Sperzel Extended Tuning Gears provide straight string pull on a traditional 3-on-a-side headstock. The original Gotoh wraparound bridge is included. Current bridge is ultra-lightweight aluminum VOX bridge.
