This is an absolutely inspiring instrument and quite the collector's item. Completely original and excellent condition with original Gibson hardshell case.
Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, Adirondack spruce top. Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard and bridge and one piece mahogany neck. Nickel Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. Bone nut and saddle. Built 2007 in the Custom Shop in Bozeman Montana under the supervision and with woods hand-selected by master luthier Ren Ferguson.
1 of only 2 ever built in this style and woods. Modeled on the Nick Lucas that Bob Dylan used live and in the studio during his early years. The other one went to a collector in Japan. There will never be another.
Plays so beautifully and has a wonderful full, woody, rich, well-defined tone - great for flat picking or fingerpicking. It is LOUD. 1 23/32" nut width is comfortable with a rounded Nick Lucas neck profile (more substantial than modern Gibson but not a fat 50's profile.) 12-fret-to-the-body; deep Nick Lucas body (4 3/4" at endpin, 4 1/4" at neck)
Originally sold from the historic, now defunct, Mandolin Brothers in New York. It has been gently played and has never left my smoke free home. NO ISSUES at all - plays perfectly. A couple of small lacquer impressions that don't even show in photos - It basically presents as a new guitar with a bit of normal pickguard swirling.
It is that rare example of a cool, rare looking guitar that happens to also be a sublime instrument on it's own terms.
