This is a rare opportunity to own an amazingly good quality and very rare guitar. I never thought i'd do this, but i'm selling my much beloved a very rare Charvel Model 6 in Pink Mist Metallic. Serial
number C803462, which identifies this as a 1988 model. Yes this guitar
is 30 years old! Though you wouldn't think that to look at it! This is
easily collectors grade. It's now getting very difficult to find Charvel Model 6s in such good condition.
This guitar was made in the 'heady' days of hair metal, when Grover himself was at the helm of Jackson/Charvel. The quality of this instrument is astounding! It puts the newer 'Fender' Charvels and Jacksons to shame! This guitar will give modern USA Soloists a run for their money! I know because i own one! Also, this is the closest match to a 1980s Soloist ever produced. basically Grover wanted to produce a more affordable Soloist, which he couldn't do in the USA. So, he set up the Charvel brand in Japan, where production was much cheaper - hence the Chavel Model 6 (or Japanse Soloist) was born!
These were over £1000 back in the 80's for a standard colour (Pearl white, black, Cherry red metallic, Ferrari red, Blue metallic). I imagine Pink Mist would have cost substantially more, given the metal flake paint used, and that it wasn't a standard finish. This is the only Charvel Model 6 i've seen, or know of in this unusual colour (I'm a real Model 6 affectionardo - having owned a fair few in my time), I know these guitars and there production runs very well.
I won't list the specs for this guitar, because you can find them online easily enough. Follow this link . ironically, the photo shows a Chavel Model 6 in Pink Mist, but doesn't list Pink Mist as a standard colour, which confirms just how rare this guitar is!
I photographed this guitar on a dull cloudy day, and it looks incredible. But, the guitar looks stunning on a bright sunny day, the metal flake positively 'glows' and screams "PINK!!!!"
This guitar has 30 year old seasoned wood and is a thru neck design - It has the most amazing natural sustain, which can be heard without plugging the guitar in. Honestly, this guitar sounds better than my 2008 USA SL1 Soloist in many ways. This guitar has individual pickup switches, so any combination of pickups can be used. Also, the guitar has an active mid - boost as standard - making this instrument much more versatile than a Jackson Soloist can ever be!
Now for the specifics of this guitar: The guitar is totally original and has only ever been lightly played. The frets are the original ones and there's no real signs of use and absolutely no fret wear. I bought this directly from the gentleman who bought it new in the 80s and he confirmed that it spent most of it's life in it's case, or hung on a wall looking pretty! It was rarely played, and the condition reflects that.
The guitar would be in perfect condition were it not for the following very small imperfections - most of which are so insignificant my camera couldn't pick them up, but they are detailed for honest accuracy:
2x small laquer dents on back - one 8mm long, 2nd 3mm (see photo) these are most obvious marks on guitar.
1 small shallow (almost unnoticeable) laquer dent on top edge - 5mm (wouldn't photo) 1 5mm subtle scuff/discolouration on top edge - barely noticeable (wouldn't photo) 1 shallow 5mm laquer dpression near jack socket - barely notieable (wouldn't photo) 1 minor laquer scratch just behind trem unit - (see photo) - this would probably buff out, as it's literally just the surface.
1 minor laquer surface scuff near pickup switches - this would probably buff out, as it's literally just the surface (wouldn't photo)
I will point out that you have to really be looking for these imperfections to see them, apart from the 2 laquer dents on the back , which are noticeable when close enough. The rest are hard to see.
So, i know some of you may be wondering why i'm selling this guitar? Well, In actual fact, i adore this guitar, and was never intending to sell it. It's my all time favourite 'pride and joy' guitar - and i've owned many - being an ex-pro guitarist. Why am i selling? Simply i've just acquired the rarest of rare Chavel Model 6 and i can't justify owning two Model 6s, so one has to go. I would not be selling this otherwise!
Any questions please ask. Please, no trem kickers, no idiots and no silly offers - All will be ignored! I know what this guitar is, and what it's potentially worth. I could charge a lot more for this, given that standard colours in this condition are selling for over $1400, but i'd just be happy for the right person (ideally a Charvel Model 6 fan) to own this guitar, having acquired it from me for a good price.
THERE WILL BE NO MORE PRICE REDUCTIONS. THE INSTRUMENT IS AS CHEAP AS I'M PREPARED TO GO ON REVERB!
Please contact me before you pay. We need to discuss shipping befor you can pay the correct amount.
