Art presented by Healdsburg Guitars. Each piece of Art usually has a title, this instrument has a name-Lady Gilmoore. A tribute to David Gilmour and Gary Moore. This instrument is full of energy. She has sat patiently and has not had anyone, she is a virgin. (please note Tom Ribbecke is not associated with Healdsburg Guitars)

This guitar was originally made for a Japanese music executive. Many months were spent picking the woods for the top, back, sides and neck with each piece having to be approved by the client. The process to choose the color took just as long with hundreds of pictures being exchanged until one color emerged as the clients choice.

But when the guitar was built and ready for the finish process and entered the spray booth for its color an artists inspiration took over and Tom Ribbecke just felt this was the color that this guitar wanted. It’s such a small space with the two dancing together…dressing the instrument to present to the world. It is little known outside the small luthier world that the wood and guitar speaks to the luthier and the very best ones know how to listen. The artist listened to the guitar and adorned the body with color and then finish. It wasn’t exactly what was ordered, but it was what the artist felt this guitar needed. It was art talking, it was emotions talking control of the eyes and hands and creating what was seen in the mind and felt in the heart.

When the client was presented with the final color he rejected it immediately. After a year of planning and then another 6 months of building and finishing it was being readied for stripping and refinishing.

Healdsburg Guitars stepped in and rescued the guitar and the Japanese client was built an entirely new guitar with the color he wanted.

That is when Larry Robinson was approached and asked if there was an inlay he had that was never put on any instrument. He pulled out a drawing of The Lady, it had…gasp…an exposed breast. Larry said no one ever had the balls to put this on a guitar. That was that and it was decided.

Art is a messy emotionally draining process but the result is exceptional. This instrument is the result of three great artists who collaborated and created something that only exists because of their energy and passion.

Look at the small details and delicate cuts of each piece the of the inlay, the hair, the dress, the flowers. And look at the detail of the skin that is a culmination of thousand of individual points done by Bob Hergert, the third great artist to contribute to this beauty…he creates art point by point. Every detail is this instrument is connected by beauty.

Listen and watch the video, this instrument can do anything and play anything. It will take you anywhere you want to go. This isn’t meant to just hang on a wall. It is meant to become an extension of you, your mind, your music, your soul. Take her home.

She also has a sister called Eden, as in Garden of Eden...the forbidden fruit.
