Epiphone has developed signature guitars with many different musicians. The process involves constructing prototypes before deciding the final configuration. Sometimes the models are never put into production. That is the case with this guitar. After playing this prototype I don't know why the decision was made not to produce it, because it plays and sounds great!
Like almost all Epiphone Les Paul models, the Weinhofen has a solid mahogany body with a set neck. The fretboard appears to be rosewood with trapozoid inlays. It has 24 frets and a 24.75 inch scale. The pickups are EMG 81/89 active pickups powered by a 9 volt battery. Controls consist of a Master Volume and 3-way toggle switch. The Master Volume knob also has a push/pull function that allows coil splitting of the EMG 89 pickup in the neck position. The white body is contrasted nicely with black binding. The tuners are Grover, and all the hardware is black. Epiphone strap locks are included. Jona's signature is on the back of the headstock.
This guitar has great action, nice and low with no buzz. Of course the EMG pickups give you all the power that you need for any occassion. I would say the neck shape is a Slim Taper D, it is thin and fast.
This guitar weighs 7.9 pounds.

FAQ, frequently asked questions
Why are instruments sent to a refurbisher? The instrument could be a discontinued model, have a finish imperfection, need a minor repair or be a prototype that never made it to production.
Who refurbishes your instruments? All of my instruments come from the largest and best refurbisher in the country, where any issue found is corrected by a factory trained and authorized luthier.
Does a refurbished instrument have the manufacturer warranty? No, any instrument sent to a refurbisher, regardless of the reason it was sent there, no longer carries the manufacturer warranty.
Will I need to set up my instrument when I receive it? All of my instruments have been set-up before shipping, so most are ready to play out of the box. However some instruments may need a minor adjustment after shipping due to changes in temperature, humidity, and getting bumped around during shipping.
What identifies an instrument as being refurbished? All refurbished instruments have a small used stamp on the back of the head stock and are issued a new serial number. This is to prevent an unethical dealer from concealing the fact that the instrument was sent to a refurbisher.
