Ah, Anniversaries. They give us the opportunity to pause and reflect on how far we've come in a specific period of time. As many of you know Istanbul Mehmet used to be part of Istanbul Cymbals with Istanbul Agop. The company split up around 20 years ago. So here we have a 61st Anniversary Mehmet Cymbal celebrating 61 years of what exactly???? It's certainly not 61 years of Mehmet Cymbals. Hell, Istanbul Cymbals wasn't even around 61 years ago. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING HERE MEHMET???? Well, maybe it's 61 years of cymbal making, sure. Why not.

Regardless, this 22" sounds WONDERFULLY DARK AND BEAUTIFULLY LOW PITCHED!! And if you're not familiar with Istanbuls then this is a great one to start with.

Imagine a TURK Ride but more REFINED!! That is this unlathed and heavily hand hammered, RAW 61st!!!

ORGANIC, FAIRLY DARK AND MEDIUM LOW IN PITCH! I will say that, in all those 61 years Mehmet learned how to make a great dark and brooding but still smooth sounding cymbal.

Oh and sure you could get a K Constantinople for $539.95, but why the hell WOULD you when you can get an actually HAND HAMMERED cymbal that makes the K Cons seem like a stiff board, and SAVE $200 in the process!!

And so...I list, with pleasure....

Posted for immense pleasure is this gloriously DARK and completely Hand Hammered Istanbul Mehmet 61st Anniversary 22" Ride that is in AMAZING Condition. Check out the pictures! There are

nicks, cracks, dents or dings on this amazing 22"! It's in GREAT SHAPE!! VERY CLEAN!!!

In fact this 22" could pass for BRAND NEW!!!

As you can see there is beautiful craftsmanship on this 22". The plain of the cymbal has a gorgeous hand hammered wavy appearance-like a Vintage Zildjian of yore, hell, a Zildjian of 61 years ago.

Here's what Mehmet has to say about the 61st Anniversary Ride:

"Small very smooth bell bridge, dark and limited overtones, woody stick definition."

That's all well and good, but maybe a little info on what this cymbal is celebrating the anniversary of would be useful too.  Just a thought.

As you can see the hand hammering on this particular 61st Anniversary model is gorgeous and gives this beauty a great, rippling, wavy surface. As promised, the bell is a bit smaller which gives this 22" a slightly more CONTROLLED and of course, smooth, euphonic timbre.

Weighing in at a glorious 2374 grams this Mehmet plays like a great, Dark and semi-dry, ORGANIC, Medium Thin Ride. The tone is semi-dark and very even and well-balanced but being unlatched it's EARTHY and organic.

As far as Istanbul 22"s go, this DRY with a fantastic stick attack, organic, overall DARK and medium low in pitch, all with that glorious hand hammered hint of complexity. This is an exceptionally musical 22"!

Much more musical than a Zildjian K Cons!

And yes, at only 2374 grams, this Mehmet is definitely CRASHABLE. It yields a fantastic Medium Thin to Medium Crash tone!

Light Left Side Ride. Medium Thin Semi-Dry Main Ride. Big Medium Dark Crash, whatever you decide this Mehmet is a WORKHORSE Cymbal.

And this 22" would be a perfect candidate for rivets if you're so inclined.

If you like organic, earthy, DARK, brooding and overall balanced and musical, than this rare 22" is an excellent choice!

And this beauty is rarely SEEN in the wild! Hardly anyone actually HAS THIS ACTUALLY IN STOCK! NOT drop ship. I mean IN STOCK!

You can use this MEHMET 22" 61st Anniversary Ride for whatever your heart's desire. Obviously it's great for jazz, blues, ballads and soul. But that's only if you dream in black and white. This 22" in amazing for mellow rock...and pop, funk, fusion, acoustic and singer songwriter gigs, and definitely session work.

$540 for the non-hand hammered K Cons?????

$465 for a garden variety big box store K Custom Dark Ride??

Why not save a bunch money and get a hand made instrument that sounds like it was hand made! This 22" has much more vibe and character than a K 22".

So do yourself a favor and grab this HARD TO FIND, DARK and ORGANIC, Lower Pitched 2374 gram Istanbul MEHMET 61st Anniversary 22" Ride.
