We offer this lovely 1989-1990 Guild Guitar that has a bit of mystery to it. We have consulted Guild, we've done internet research, read histories of the company, even consulted George Gruhn, and as far as we can tell, this is the only one, or at least we can't find another. The serial number is D48-0012 so perhaps they made a dozen, but we don't know. All we know is that this is a lovely instrument in very good playable condition with a solid Spruce top. It is similar to the popular D-40 but this D-48 has white neck bindings, attractive block pearl neck inlays, gold-plated Grover tuning machines, and an arched Mahogany back! George Gruhn said that he designed this particular headstock for Guild while he was working with them in the 1980s but he left Guild in 1988 and he felt this was probably made immediately after that.
The gold tuners have some wear and tarnish and the guitar has plenty of small marks and dings from use, but it remains very solid structurally with no cracks and also remains quite attractive looking. The tone is warm and lustrous.
Comes with a hard shell case in good condition.
