Player's Perspective

We have way too many good things to say about the G&L Comanche. This S style guitar plays like a bat out of hell, and it has some wonderful pickup combinations as well as a terrific trem system to wail on. The final product is a mysterious blend of recognizable tones the likes of David Gilmour, Allan Holdsworth, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. The pickups in this guitar are a little on the darker side. They put out plenty of bite and thicken up nicely with a little crunch from a tube amp, but they can also sound nice and mellow with a simple twist of the volume knob. You'll never get the ice pick high end in the bridge or muddy neck and quack positions that some other S models are known for. The playability is off the charts on this Comanche. You can play everything from conservative jazz to wailing, over the top shred licks, and the guitar will keep up with you. This is a great guitar and a great buy at this price. 

Special Features This Comanche features a blackburst finish on an ash body. The maple neck has a maple fretboard, 12" radius and a 1 5/8" bone nut. One of the best features about this axe is G&L's Magnetic Field Design Z-coil pickups. These little sweeties are high fidelity and high output, but not overly bright. You can get crisp high-end without having to turn your treble all the way down - even when you're using the bridge pickup. In addition, a mini toggle switch provides even more possibilities for pickup combinations, including simultaneous neck and bridge and all three at once. The dual fulcrum vibrato tailpiece makes dive bombing incredibly easy and fun without having to worry about tuning stability. Chrome plated brass saddles help contribute to the sterling tone of this guitar.
