We're talking U.S. made Martin from the '40s here, so the solid figured maple is gorgeous, the top has a nice straight grain, the fit and finish for its age is great, and the sound is outstanding. Notice the original tuners, finish, tailpiece, and pick guard. It also comes in the original hard case, which is strong and secure. Any mandolin player will like the way this one looks, plays, and sounds.
The bad news is that there's a cross-grain crack in the top between the tailpiece and bridge, but it has been professionally repaired and is entirely stable. It's still a beautiful instrument and a good player. I've played this mandolin at a lot of jams because it plays so easily and projects well. Now I have an F model that's just a bit louder, so this one stays home.
As with the other instruments I have for sale, the shipping on this listing is an estimate. I will charge exactly what it costs to ship, and I don't charge for "handling".
