Selling my 2002 Hamer USA Newport Pro Custom. $1,300 plus shipping.
Hand-carved arched spruce top with 2 "f" holes; carved out hollow body;
Honduras mahogany neck and body; Ivoroid binding around the body, up the
neck and headstock; Grover Super Rotomatic tuners; Seymour Duncan "Seth
Lover" humbuckers; Tune-o-matic bridge with a stop tail piece.
Beautiful guitar in fantastic condition. All original. No signs of abuse. I don't normally think about spruce as being a pretty wood. It's certainly not like flamed or quilted maple. It doesn't have the grain of mahogany or korina. Nonetheless the thick spruce caps Hamer used for their Newports is beautiful in a subtle and understated way. Zoom in the pics I've provided and you can see the figuring and the grain. There's almost a sheen to it that is hard to capture. The natural finish really shows off the grain and the hand carved top to great effect.
One tiny ding by the pickup
selector switch. See pics. No buckle rash. No Hameritis. Frets have plenty of
life yet. The neck is on the thinner side - much closer to a fast 60s Gibson neck instead of the chunk of alate 50s Gibson neck.
Check out youtube for videos of the tones you can coax out of Hamer USA Newports (not the actual guitar for sale - but it is the same model). This guitar nails classic rock, country and jazz. I think you'll love it.
