2011 Burny Thunderbird IV Electric Bass Guitar Polaris White w/ Upgrades

Up for sale, a 2011 Burny Thunderbird IV electric bass guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With a Polaris White finish and a host of vintage spec upgrades, this is a very unique Thunderbird that delivers the goods tonally while visually retaining all the hallmarks of a '60s example. At the heart of this bass is a pair of PMC Thunderbird pickups which have vintage correct nickel covers and mounting rings as well as proper output, measuring in the 7k range in the neck position and over 9k ohms at the bridge. The tone is warm and punchy, with thick growl and ample thump with the neck pickup favored and the tone knob rolled back. Other vintage-spec upgrades include an upgraded wiring harness with USA-made CTS pots, a top mounted tailpiece, nickel neck pickup cover, wooden finger rest, and reflector cap knobs. The bass weighs 9lbs 13oz, balances surprisingly well on a strap and has been professionally setup with roundwound 45-105 strings and low, comfortable action.

The neck has a quintessential medium C profile shape with a rosewood fretboard and medium jumbo fretwire. The frets show just a touch of wear beneath the A and D strings from frets 1-5, playing cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots and an ideally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width. On the headstock, the original clover button tuners are present. These tuners were not oriented properly from the factory, so a small adjustment has been made to their angle in relation to the headstock.

All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The bass shows a few finish chips on the treble side edges of the body as well as scuffs in the pick path and on the control cavity cover. The nickel hardware is beginning to show a touch of surface patina as well.
