You won't find a better guitar in this price range!
This Tokai ES-335 copy in every dimension. However, I wouldn't say it's just any old copy - this is a truly remarkable work of art. This guitar easily blows most modern Gibson ES-335s out of the water, and for a third of the price. The neck is straight as an arrow and it plays as well as any Gibson connoisseur could possibly wish for. The fretwire has a very nice balance to the thickness, not too much or little - truly 50s and 60s vintage spec. The neck is a nice exceptionally comfortable all-around. The humbuckers have an excellent vintage output character, and a lively, colorful tonal spectrum. The maple has a rich, beautiful flame to it, but it's subtle and never too gaudy.
Truth be told, this is the best guitar I've ever owned and I really hate to let it go - but I just don't need it for the styles of music I've been playing for the last few years. It has never been gigged with - strictly a studio instrument in a smoke-free environment and well-cared for. I ordered this guitar new, directly from Japan in spring of 2008, so I'd imagine it dates to either 2007 or 2008. It has just one small, minor ding on the treble side of the body, otherwise it's absolutely immaculate. Hardshell case is part of this sale. I really want this guitar to go to a good home, in the hands of someone that can appreciate and enjoy it.
