McAlister L-00 “Lucas” Presentation Grade German/Brazilian
A 1998 model L-00 size guitar from Roy McAlister.
German Spruce and old growth Brazilian Rosewood beauty in Excellent shape.
Completely crack-free. Slight play wear, very small ding on the back near the binding (does not penetrate the finish), and a very slight scratch on the top to the left of the fretboard near the purfling (can barely be seen in photo of the fretboard inlay), but remarkably great shape for this 20-year old guitar.
Beautiful amber color on the top, with the lacquer finish nicely settled into the top grain.
Here are the specs:
• German Spruce quartersawn top (with no runout)
• Old growth, quartersawn Brazilian Rosewood back and sides
• Ebony bridge, fingerboard and headstock overlay (front and back)
• Scale length: 25.4” (long scale)
• Fossilized Ivory nut and saddle
• Fossilized Ivory bridge pins, end pin and strap button
• 1 3/4” nut width
• 2 7/32” string spacing
• Schaller M6 gold tuners with ebony buttons
• Brazilian Rosewood binding
• Paua Abalone top purfling
• Paua Abalone Rosette
• Abalone fretboard design at the 12th fret
• Mother of Pearl McAlister headstock logo
• Original Custom Cedar Creek tweed-covered case included
Tall saddle (3/16”) and action at the 12th fret is 3/32” on the low E and 5/64” on the high e.
Beautiful Full tone (due to long scale), combined with the sweetness of the smaller 00 body size. Although I play it exclusively fingerstyle, it does handle a flat pick well.
20 years of the body wood aging has resulted in a very open guitar tone.
